Hey Guys, It’s LaBlaq,… or Girls or others, nonbinary babies, all my
loves out there.
I wanted to reach out to you very quickly because it’s the end of
the month.
I like the end of things.
The end of things reminds me that there is the beginning of things.
And one of my favorite things to do at the end is to plan ahead
for the beginning, the new.
So tomorrow is a new month and I’d like to talk to you about listening.
We’re having a lot of hard conversations in this country.
And one of the things I think we are all doing poorly is we’re not
listening.
So I realized listening is actually a skill that actually needs to be
taught.
And not everyone is taught how to listen.
So here are three quick things that you can do to help you be a better
listener:
Ask yourself while you’re listening are you centering yourself
Are you assuming something
And lastly, are you dismissing the story
I think these are important things to think about while you are
actively listening.
One of the things that I am super self-conscious about is that I often do that sometimes myself. Not intentionally, but because I want to relate.
And that’s not a bad thing, it’s just something I need to be conscious of
So as you go throughout the month of July maybe think about how you listen and improve that.
